We recently hosted a webinar titled “Sales at Esri: Your Next Career Move.” The presenters were Mike Johnson, Director of Commercial Sector Sales; Megan Kolkman, Retail Sales Manager; and Johanna Stubbe, Executive Sales Recruiter. The attendees asked some great questions, and since we weren’t able to answer all of them during the live broadcast, we wanted to share a few of them here.
Who is the target audience at the customer’s organization? In most cases is it IT or business?
The target audience for a prospective customer is typically line of business. We work to develop relevant value propositions to spark interest with the line of business; however, in most cases, IT buy-in is required to procure a system.
What solutions are you bringing to your clients to help them acquire the data they need to leverage solutions?
Esri provides extensive content within our platform offerings. In addition, Esri has a wide network of partners who provide specialized and premium content that is often used by our customers. In those cases, we assist in making the connection between customers and those content providers.
What type of compensation does Esri offer?
We offer competitive salaries, an outstanding benefits package, 401k and profit sharing plans, and tuition reimbursement.
If I haven’t worked in retail, is it still possible to join the group? It sounds exciting…
Esri is always looking for talented professionals to join our organization. Our openings are updated regularly and can be found at www.esri.com/careers.
Do you accept candidates who might not have experience in GIS sales but have a solid GIS background and a desire to drive their career in GIS sales and marketing?
Yes. Our account representatives come from a variety of backgrounds. We also have a number of opportunities for GIS professionals in other areas of the company. Visit our careers website to look at current openings.
